AT HOME WORKOUT ROUTINES

I never thought I would be writing a blog post like this but here we are, y’all! While we’re all staying home and social distancing we can still stay healthy and fit. I’ve been getting really creative with how I’m working out while indoors and even outdoors a little bit too. I don’t know about y’all but I HAVE to get fresh air and be outside often so this has truly been a change for me BUT I’ve found a solution for me. Recently, I’ve been living on top on the parking garage. I’m able to get fresh air and stay at home! What’s really awesome right now to see are the companies adapting quickly to what’s going on and billions of people at home. There are NUMEROUS online classes and streaming services available out there right now because of everyone quarantining at home. Some companies are hosting live classes, which is really cool! Additionally, I’ve been doing my workouts from an app that has TONS of options depending on what I want to work on that day. I’ve rounded up all different types of online workouts you can do!

Equipment Replacement

Let’s be real for a minute, not everyone can just go to the store right now or even to the post office to pick up a package if it doesn’t come straight to your door. Additionally, many of us are wanting to save as much money as we can with the future being a little bit uncertain so I wanted to share different items around the house you can use for working out!

  1. Basketball or soccer ball - These balls can definitely replace a medicine ball or even be used to squeeze between your legs.

  2. Soup cans or water bottles - I can’t tell y’all how many times I’ve use soup cans as weights during a workout at home! They seriously work so well.

  3. Paper plate - These are great replacements for sliders.

  4. Chair - Chairs can be great for all sorts of exercises you might typically use a workout bench for such as: tricep dips and even inclined push ups.

  5. Robe Ties & Towels - Yes! The tie you wrap around you when you tie your robe. Pull that baby out and use it for resistance. You can also use towels for different stretches, especially those behind your back.

Workout Hacks

When you can’t leave your house, don’t discount being able to get outside. Andrew and I live in an apartment so I’ve been getting really creative with different workouts to do to. I’ve even been able to still get my 10,000 steps!

  1. Utilize stairs! One workout I’ve been loving to do is go to the top floor of my apartment complex and run/walk up and down every single staircase in my complex. This entire process is about 25 min and my legs are 100% burning after one lap around.

  2. Parking garages are your friend. My daily workouts are now being held on top of my apartment’s parking garage. I’ve been taking my free weights, yoga mat, and water bottle to the top and getting my workout on! A couple of different things you can do to really utilize the parking garage is run/walk up and down one of the inclines. I’ll do a couple down and backs to get my steps in this way as well. Additionally, I have been doing suicides with the parking space lines. Typically cars aren’t parking at the top and the spaces are empty.

  3. Walls. I don’t think I’ve ever done more wall sits until now, haha!

  4. No jumprope? No problems. I’ve been noticing that a lot of online workouts are wanting you to do jump-roping for a minute or two but if you don’t have a jumprope you can do jumping jacks or even run in place!

Activewear Favorites

I’ve been living in activewear lately because I’m trying to workout everyday and honestly it’s just so comfy! These pieces are from some of my favorite shops and are comfortable AND durable. Many of these pieces come in multiple colors and patterns.

Athleisurewear Favorites

HELLO COMFY LIVING! When I’m not in yoga pants, I’m in sweatpants or shorts and of course a soft sweatshirt. These sweatshirts can be easily thrown over a sports bra or tank and turned into a cute athleisure look.
